Spring 2022
We are now in a position to tentatively issue prices for products going forward into the
Spring. Supply and pricing will continue to be an issue going forward as there are so many
unknowns around raw material supply and costs along with continued increases in energy
and fuel costs. World events are also now adding extra cost into many manufacturing
processes involving fertilisers We will aim to keep you updated as best we can, but changes
are happening almost on a monthly basis.
Growing Media
We have been able to build up good stock levels across all ranges of growing media but are
now being warned by suppliers of up to 4 weeks lead times on new orders as the main
growing season gets underway. This delay could start to impact on product availability, but
we will do our best to keep all products in stock and available for you to order.
Prices are now starting to increase significantly as manufacturing and raw material costs
continue to increase. Added into this the higher shipping costs from haulers along with
extra surcharges for fuel of up to 20% per load, manufacturers have no choice but to pass
on the increases.
Pelleted Chicken Fertilisers
There are continued shortages of this product throughout the UK due to raw material
availability. A high percentage of this product is now being diverted into power stations for
biomass. As the supply of this product from Vitax cannot be guaranteed we have sourced a
new product, Early Bird Pelleted Chicken Manure 15kg. This product is coming into us
directly from Holland and is of the same quality as 6x. New stock will arrive early May and
prices will be confirmed.
Fertilisers
Unfortunately, fertilisers costs continue to rise, again due to raw material costs and the
increased energy prices we are all now to aware of. Most fertilisers manufacture involves
high usage of gas and oil which I’m afraid will only affect the price of products in one
direction. Raw material costs for Ammonia have gone up 112% and Iron 80% since October.
As fertilisers prices are extremely volatile at the moment we cannot guarantee the published
prices long-term and will price products accordingly at dispatch should they continue to
rise We will endeavor to advise you of price changes as soon as they happen.
As costs to all businesses continue to rise, we are having to review our own overheads for
running costs, fuel and NI increases As yet we are not looking to implement any surcharges
on deliveries as some larger haulers are now starting to pass on, but we have to enforce
our minimum delivery values to all orders from this point on. Any orders not reaching a
required value will incur a full delivery charge. We are no longer in a position to drop off
small deliveries when passing.
